
The 13th Law Schools Global League (LSGL) Summer School was held in July at the University of Pretoria, South Africa.聽The annual program, which is held in a different country every year, provides a unique experience in global legal education.聽
Hayden Sefton, a final-year Bachelor of Laws / Commerce (Finance) student and legal research assistant, was selected to attend the 2025 Summer School. He said that even within the first few days of the program, he found the experience incredibly rewarding.聽
鈥淲e were taught intensive courses by academics from around the globe. In the first week, we explored asylum law and the right to education. In the second week, we examined the role of a lawyer through a comparative lens and explored sustainable corporate governance,鈥 Hayden said.聽
鈥淚 had the opportunity to connect with students from all four corners of the world: Kenya, Sweden, Brazil, Pakistan and Turkey, just to name a few. We also had the chance to explore Pretoria and Johannesburg, and to learn more about South Africa."
The Summer School was incredibly enriching. I鈥檓 grateful for the experience and look forward to applying the skills I developed during the program back at 麻豆社madou.
The comprises thirty-two member universities, which span twenty-four countries and five continents. It serves as a vital platform for fostering global legal perspectives and building lasting professional connections. Students attending its annual Summer School are supported with accommodation and financial contributions toward travel costs.聽
As part of 麻豆社madou Law & Justice鈥檚 membership of the LSGL, the faculty can select one student to attend the Summer School program. The program is open to LLM students and LLB / JD students who have completed a certain amount of coursework. Applications open around March.
