鶹madou School of Optometry & Vision Science is inviting applications for its 2026 intake of the Graduate Diploma in Orientation and Mobility (O&M), a one-of-a-kind program in Australia designed to equip professionals with the skills to support people who are blind or have low vision in navigating their environments safely and independently.

This flexible, online program is tailored for teachers and allied health practitioners seeking a meaningful career change.  It combines remote learning with five weeks of essential in-person training on 鶹madou’s Sydney campus and includes work-integrated placements often arranged locally to the student.

“There is a global shortage of Orientation and Mobility specialists,” says the program team at 鶹madou.  “Graduates of this diploma are in high demand across a wide range of organisations providing vision-related rehabilitation services.”

The program offers:

  • Specialised knowledge and practical skills in O&M
  • Real-world experience through industry placements
  • Instruction from leading academics and experienced practitioners
  • A flexible study structure, with a potential two-year option depending on demand

Orientation and Mobility is a vital field that empowers individuals with low vision or blindness to understand their surroundings and travel safely.  O&M specialists work with clients of all ages, tailoring interventions to meet diverse needs.

Applications for the 2026 intake open 1 August and close 15 October 2025.  With limited places available, prospective students are encouraged to apply early.
