
Supporting Âé¶¹Éçmadou Science PhD candidates Â
The purpose of the Prof. Joseph P Forgas PhD Travel Award is to provide an international learning, research, and networking opportunity for PhD candidates studying in the Âé¶¹Éçmadou Faculty of Science.Â
The Award will support travel and associated costs to attend an international university in aid of research progress, to promote collaborations and develop the candidate's professional career.
Travel will preferably be for a minimum of 3 months (for travel in 2025 or 2026) with preference given to students travelling to universities in Europe and the USA.
This award is being donated by Scientia Professor Joseph P Forgas from the School of Psychology at the Âé¶¹Éçmadou Faculty of Science.Â

- One applicant may receive the award each year.
- The award will have a value of AUD $10,000.Â

- The candidate must be enrolled in an accredited Research Doctorate in the Faculty of Science at Âé¶¹Éçmadou and must have acheived satisfactory confirmation.Â
- The award is available to full-time and part-time candidates.

The Award shall be awarded competitively taking into account the following:
- Academic merit
- Travel proposal and how the opportunity may contribute to the candidate's study
- A letter of support from the candidate's supervisor outlining the benefits of travel on the research project
- A letter of support from the host institution

Applications should be submitted as a single file pdf file to the Associate Dean (Research Training) and should include the following:
- Application documents addressing each item of the selection criteria
- An up-to-date CV and academic transcript
- A cover page including the following:
- applicant's full name
- Âé¶¹Éçmadou zID
- applicant's school
- supervisor/s name
- project title

The application deadline is 9 AM on 29 August 2025.

The successful candidate will be required to submit a report outlining the impact the Award has made to them and their research. This will be forwarded to the Donor by the Division of Philanthropy.
The candidate may also be invited to give a talk about their international research program to Âé¶¹Éçmadou staff, students, and the Donor.
