I am an Associate Professor of English in the School of the Arts and Media. Most of my research deals withÌýmodernist fiction;Ìýparticular focuses include modernist conceptions of authorship, the relationship between literature and specialization, technological mediaÌýand the cultural history of trust. My articles have appearedÌýin journals suchÌýas ELH, Modernism/modernity, NOVELÌýandÌýModern Fiction Studies, as well asÌýin several edited collections.ÌýI am co-editorÌýof two collections of essays:ÌýModernist Work: Labor, Aesthetics, and the Work of ArtÌý(2019) andÌýIncredible Modernism: Literature, Trust, and DeceptionÌý(Ashgate, 2013).Ìý

My Teaching

I convene "ARTS2036 Modernism Text and Screen" and "ARTS3054ÌýThe Getting of Wisdom: Youth, Literature and the Formation of the Self". I welcome PhD and Honours projects on literary modernism broadly defined, and especially any of the research areas listed in this profile.
