Student Imaging and Biosignal Processing Lab

Welcome to our Imaging and Biosignal Processing Laboratories. We use advanced imaging systems for biomolecular analysis and disease detection, focusing on metabolic fingerprints. Our AI and machine learning tools support complex biosignal processing, including 3D imaging and heat maps. We also develop and characterise biosensors for disease biomarker detection and provide data acquisition services for medical image analysis using machine learning.

Advanced Imaging and Disease Detection

Our laboratories are equipped with hyperspectral imaging systems, confocal microscopes, and epifluorescent microscopes for advanced biomolecular analysis. We specialise in high-content image analysis to provide a metabolic fingerprint, distinguishing healthy from diseased cells, which is crucial for disease detection and monitoring.

Analytic and Machine Learning Capabilities

The integration of AI & ML with deep learning and data science techniques enhances our ability to process and interpret complex biosignal data. We offer data visualisation tools, including 3D imaging data from MRI and CT, cell surface maps, and heat maps, to support comprehensive analysis.

Biosensor Development and Characterisation

Our facilities include a customised sensor rig development area for the design and benchtop electrical characterisation of various biosensors. We focus on environmental sensing and the detection of disease biomarkers, employing fluorescent, colorimetric, chemiluminescent, electrochemical, and electro-optical biosensors.

Data Acquisition and Processing

With state-of-the-art equipment, we facilitate data acquisition and the development of discriminant models for medical image processing. Our labs are adept at image segmentation using ML, enhancing the precision of disease detection and analysis.
