Being a part of the Students as Partners Consultative Group has given me the platform to represent the communities I belong to and the opportunity to use my lived experiences to contribute a student voice on key university projects and initiatives. It has been incredibly rewarding and reassuring to see that the University genuinely values and listens to feedback from students, especially those from traditionally underrepresented communities. I am so grateful to be able to voice my community’s ideas and perspectives to university decision-makers, have open and honest discussions about issues affecting students and how we can work collaboratively to improve them, and have our insights implemented in projects. This is critical to ensuring that the university continues to develop projects and initiatives which are inclusive, equitable, and aligned with the diverse student population at Â鶹Éçmadou.

The Disability Travel Support Fund has played a crucial role in enabling my participation in international disciplinary conferences. Without the Fund’s assistance, I would have had to decline several valuable opportunities. I initially felt hesitant to apply, in part because my condition is relatively recent and not something I’ve lived with since birth or childhood, so I was/am still coming to terms with its impacts. However, I’ve been grateful for how the Fund’s application process has been handled with sensitivity, ensuring that barriers to participation are minimised. Thank you for your support.
